What is the Texas Quiz Show?

The Texas Quiz Show is a TV quiz show for middle school students about all things Texas. Each spring, teams of three students representing their respective schools battle it out to determine which teams will advance to the semi-finals. The semifinals and finals will then be held at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum and rebroadcast on community television stations.

Who can participate?

Texas middle school students in 6th, 7th or 8th grade who are selected to represent their schools and are willing to travel to Austin, Brownsville, Fort Worth, El Paso, Houston, Lubbock, Nacogdoches and San Antonio for their respective regional contest.

Is there a fee to participate?

Yes. Starting in 2011, there will be a one-time fee of $25 to receive the Texas Quiz Show In A Box: the essential toolkit to host the Texas Quiz Show in your classroom and school. There is no fee to attend the regional or state contests.

The Grand Champion team wins something totally cool. Prizes vary but include trophies, medals, and merchandise from our sponsors.

What schools can compete in the Texas Quiz Show?

Beginning spring of 2012, any team of 3 Texas middle school students who complete and submit a registration form with their Texas History teacher’s signature can compete in the competition, limit ONE team per school. Regional competitions will be held in the Austin, Brownsville, Fort Worth, El Paso, Houston, Lubbock, Nacogdoches and San Antonio areas with the top two teams advancing to the State Finals in Austin.
